Senior Manufacturing Engineer

About the Role:
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is a hands-on technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes for complex medical device or precision manufacturing environments. This role focuses on process development, automation, cost optimization, and continuous improvement while ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in scaling production, mentoring junior engineers, and driving operational excellence across manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities:

Evaluate and optimize manufacturing processes based on efficiency, throughput, quality, and cost metrics.

Design, test, and implement new manufacturing processes for new product introductions and existing production lines.

Lead or support cost estimation activities for new and ongoing manufacturing programs.

Develop and validate automated and manual manufacturing systems.

Design, install, and qualify manufacturing equipment, tooling, and fixtures.

Analyze production requirements, machine capabilities, and capacity planning needs.

Optimize facility layouts, production lines, workflows, and machine utilization.

Identify and resolve production issues, bottlenecks, delays, and quality concerns.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, yield improvement, and quality enhancement.

Train manufacturing staff on new and existing processes and standard work.

Mentor and develop junior manufacturing engineers and technical staff.

Collaborate with cross functional teams including engineering, quality, suppliers, and contractors.

Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Evaluate and implement new technologies to upgrade manufacturing systems and processes.
Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

Ten or more years of experience as a manufacturing engineer or in a similar role.

Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, tooling, and CNC machining.

Experience with manufacturing equipment, automation, and quality assurance techniques.

Proficiency with CAD software and standard engineering tools, including MS Office.

Demonstrated project management, problem solving, and analytical skills.

Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in a manufacturing environment.

Ability to work cross functionally and lead technical initiatives independently.
Desired Qualifications:

Green Belt certification or formal training in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.

Hands on experience with continuous improvement programs and operational excellence initiatives.

Experience supporting regulated manufacturing environments such as medical devices or precision equipment.
